The Yorkton Oncology Team is affiliated with the Saskatchewan Cancer Agency and is formally a satellite centre with Community Oncology Program of Saskatchewan (COPS). The team is a dedicated group of professionals including registered nurses and pharmacy technicians who work hard to ensure that patients feel safe and confident.
In September 2025, the Yorkton Oncology Department and Infusion Clinic were the recipients of donations through the Health Foundation.
From Elyse Thomas, RN:
"These donations allowed the relocation from the 3rd floor of the hospital to a newly renovated clinic on the main floor. The new location is now within a few steps of the main entrance/ parking lot, emergency department, and the lab. The additional space provides nurses with a direct line of sight to the patients, allows for additional chairs to be added for family/friends, and private bathrooms for bladder cancer treatments. We have been able to add treatment chairs and stretchers, which has increased capacity by 30% - drastically reducing our waitlist.
Additionally, the Health Foundation has assisted our team with access to advanced oncology education for nursing staff. Increased education for nurses equals increased safety for patients. Nursing and Pharmacy departments would like to thank all of those who have and who will donate to the Health Foundation. I have spoken to many patients/family members impacted. One comment that stands out for me is the statement, “I walk in here and my mood immediately changes. It is so bright and welcoming. How could anyone have a bad experience?”
